About the Role

An established and growing professional services firm is seeking an experienced Manager – Tax & Business Advisory to join its regional area office. This is a key leadership role within the Business Advisory division, responsible for managing a diverse client portfolio, delivering high-quality tax and advisory services, and leading a team of accountants. The role offers strong exposure to complex client structures, strategic advisory work, and a clear pathway toward senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, including SMEs, high-net-worth individuals, and complex group structures
  • Provide technical tax advice across areas such as income tax, CGT, GST, FBT, and structuring
  • Review financial statements, income tax returns, and compliance work prepared by the team
  • Deliver value-added advisory services including tax planning, business structuring, and cash flow analysis
  • Lead and manage workflow, ensuring jobs are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard
  • Act as the key point of contact for clients, building strong and trusted relationships
  • Identify opportunities to improve client outcomes and expand service offerings
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior and intermediate team members
  • Support Partners in business development, networking, and growth initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline
  • CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent)
  • 5–8+ years’ experience in public practice (Business Services / Tax / Advisory)
  • Prior experience at Supervisor or Manager level preferred
  • Strong technical tax knowledge with exposure to complex entity structures
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver commercial advice
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including reviewing work and mentoring staff
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Technical Expertise

  • Solid knowledge of Australian taxation, including:
    • Income Tax, CGT, GST, FBT
    • Div 7A, small business concessions, superannuation
  • Experience reviewing financial statements and tax returns across multiple entity types
  • Strong proficiency in cloud-based accounting software (e.g. Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills

Salary: $120k-$150k package
