Responsibilities

  • Preparing and completing income tax returns for all lodging entities including individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly compliance obligations such as Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activities Statements (IAS).
  • Preparing general and special purpose financial statements.
  • Constructing and maintaining logical and accurate working papers.
  • Preparing tax checklists.
  • Reconciling client accounts.
  • Preparing tax reconciliations.
  • Preparing cash flow statements.
  • Assisting in consulting matters as required.
  • Assisting with ad hoc client queries and administration tasks (e.g. engagement letter preparation).
  • Ensuring budget and productivity targets are met.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or similar undergraduate degree.
  • Actively completing the Chartered Accountant (CA) Program, Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) Program or equivalent professional certification.
  • 12 months’ experience in professional services with an emphasis on Accounting, Tax or Audit and Assurance.

Technical Knowledge and Abilities

  • Sound knowledge of and exposure to the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Exposure to accounting software, including but not limited to Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks.
  • Basic exposure to a range of technical accounting and tax issues, including but not limited to:
    • Income Tax
    • Capital Gains Tax (CGT)
    • Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT)
    • Goods and Services Tax (GST)
    • Payroll Tax
    • Entity Structures
    • Div 7A
    • Accounting Methodologies and Procedures
    • Accounting Principles

Salary: $70k - $80k including super
