Our client is an engineering consultancy with offices in different states across Australia. They are now looking for a Drafting Manager to join our vibrant and talented Housing division.
The Drafting Manager will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
- Validation and QA of structural engineering documentation for a variety of timber, concrete, steel building structures for residential buildings, using both Revit for structural drafting or CAD programmes.
- Process development and regular audits to ensure that the Housing drafting teams are delivering documentations with high quality, accuracy, and within prescribed timelines, in the most practical and efficient way.
- Maintenance and improvements of drafting standards, including drafting policies, detail libraries, templates and related automations.
- Working with engineering departments to troubleshoot and enhance drafting process in a team.
- Development and maintenance of Housing survey drafting processes in line with company’s requirements
- Development and delivery of training as required to both engineering and drafting teams.
- Management of Housing Drafting Committee to discuss, approve and implement changes
- Mentoring for less experienced structural drafters
- Project management of major drafting change management projects e.g. Revit adoption and integration
We are looking for someone who has the following:
- A minimum of 9 years’ experience as a structural design drafter or drafting manager at an engineering consultancy in Australia, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience working at a consultancy where Revit was the primary method of CAD documentation
- A strong understanding of residential structures and industry, as well as relevant Australian standards (essential)
- A thorough working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD or BricsCAD, including setting up projects using sheet sets (AutoCAD), and setting up models and building element libraries (Revit) and templates (essential)
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Software (in particular Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Professional and other internet functions)
- Experience in project management, equipped with sufficient understanding of change management process
- A strong understanding of building structures, especially in both the presentation, and practical application of typical timber, steel and concrete interface and connection details
- Great communication skills and an ability to convey information accurately
- Ability and adaptability in order to move about different tasks and projects quickly and easily
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in the work environment
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Good data entry skills and attention to detail
- Teamwork and team management skills
- Ability to propose and apply innovative solutions to both drafting process and documentations
- CAD programming skills are preferred
- Some management experience would be an advantage, however ongoing support and mentorship will be provided.
You will be directly reporting to the General Manager.

Salary: $100k-$120k Plus Super
