The company is a leading cross-border payment solution provider in Australia that has strong connections with Alipay, WeChat Pay, BestPay, JD Pay, and credit card issuers. As part of its strategy, the group has recently established R Financial Service which embarks on an exciting journey to become one of the newest Australian digital banks. Due to rapid expansion plan, they are seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join the leadership team in an emerging Australian Fintech company and be part of a success story. 

The CFO will play an instrumental role at both a strategic and operational level of the business, covering the business of both RoyalPay and R Financial Service. Reporting to the CEO, and as a key member of the Executive Management team, you will provide advice and guidance on all financial and commercial matters, work closely with the Board of Directors on strategy and financial matters, and exercise leadership across a number of key projects. 

Managing a small Finance team for the day-to-day operations covering accounting, taxation, reporting, payroll, payments and business analysis, you will have the overall responsibilities at the operational level for the management of following tasks, including but not limited: 

  • financial statement preparation and reporting; 
  • budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and business analysis; 
  • payroll and other staff related expenditures; 
  • cashflow and working capital management; 
  • service contracts such as office rent, car lease, and other outsourced services; 
  • payments, acquittals and reconciliations; 
  • stakeholder management e.g. vendors, lawyers, and investors; 
  • coordinate internal and external audit; 
  • BAS, company tax, insurance and other compliance matters; 

The CFO is also expected to provide leadership, guidance and insights at a strategic level in the following areas: 

  • corporate structure design and tax planning; 
  • capital raising; 
  • merger and acquisition deals; 
  • company policies and procedures; 
  • internal control system; 
  • strategic vision and business objectives; 
  • continuous improvement in decision making processes; 
  • corporate governance and risk management; and 
  • other strategic projects 

You will also assist the CEO to oversee the Corporate Services team including IT, HR and Asset Management until a separate reporting line is established for those functions. 

To succeed in this role, you must be an experienced accountant and a well-rounded professional with strong technical experience in big 4 or mid-tier accounting firms, SME companies or had similar roles in a start-up environment. While strong knowledge of payments, banking, and financial services would be preferable, we will also value your experience from adjacent sectors that involve complex business processes and service delivery. You will need to have demonstrated experience assisting in the company’s listing process and able to coordinate with key stakeholders such as auditors, investors and legal practitioners. You will also be responsible for assisting the management of investor relations. 

You will demonstrate strong financial credentials and proven success in leading professional finance functions to support the overall objectives of the business. Professional qualification such as CA, CPA or MBA and fluency in English, both verbal and written, are a must. Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus.
