About the Company
Our client is a newly established Australian facade contractor backed by one of Asia’s major facade and curtain wall manufacturing groups.
With extensive offshore manufacturing capacity, along with substantial in-house design, engineering and production resources, the business provides full-package facade design, supply and installation solutions to the Australian construction market.
This is a unique ground-floor opportunity to join an ambitious and well-capitalised business at the beginning of its Australian growth journey. You’ll have the opportunity to help shape local operations while benefiting from the technical expertise, manufacturing capability and resources of a major international group.
The Role
We are seeking a Design Coordinator to support and progressively take ownership of facade design coordination across the Australian project pipeline, from early-stage tendering through to project delivery.
You will act as a key technical link between the Australian project team, architects, consultants and builders, as well as offshore design, engineering and manufacturing teams.
We are particularly interested in candidates with the right attitude, potential and willingness to develop. The ideal candidate will have approximately five years of broader construction industry experience and be organised, curious, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of problems through to resolution.
Facade-specific experience is highly regarded but not essential. You will be supported by an experienced international design and engineering network while being given genuine responsibility and the opportunity to develop quickly within the Australian business.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate facade design development from concept through to construction across curtain wall, window wall, windows and sliding door systems
- Act as the technical bridge between the Australian project team and offshore design, engineering and manufacturing teams
- Support and progressively lead design meetings and technical workshops with architects, consultants and builders
- Coordinate technical requirements and assist in resolving design discrepancies, clashes and constructability issues
- Coordinate structural, thermal and building-services requirements as they relate to facade design
- Assist in ensuring design documentation complies with relevant Australian standards, including AS 2047, AS/NZS 4284, AS 1288 and NCC/BCA requirements
- Support front-end tender activities, including design development, system selection, technical documentation and cost input
- Coordinate shop drawing packages through procurement, fabrication and installation, ensuring buildability and timely release
- Support facade mock-ups, testing coordination and site inspections to validate design outcomes
- Manage and coordinate design documentation using CAD, Revit, Aconex and related construction platforms
- Take increasing ownership of design deliverables, technical coordination and programme milestones as your experience develops
About You
To be successful in this position, you will ideally bring:
- Fluent Mandarin and English communication skill – essential due to regular coordination with offshore design, engineering and manufacturing teams
- > 2 years of experience within the construction industry
- Previous facade, curtain wall or building-envelope experience is advantageous but not mandatory
- A qualification, or near-completed qualification, in Architecture, Building, Engineering or another relevant design/construction discipline
- A genuine interest in facades, curtain wall systems and building-envelope design
- Working knowledge of CAD and Revit
- Willingness to further develop proficiency in Aconex, Autodesk Construction Cloud and related platforms
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach – you are comfortable chasing answers, taking ownership and learning quickly
- Confidence, or the willingness to quickly develop confidence, when communicating directly with architects, consultants and builders
- Ability to work effectively across different cultures and time zones while coordinating with international teams
Why Join?
This is more than a traditional Design Coordinator position. It is an opportunity to join a growing Australian operation at an early stage and develop alongside the business.
You will benefit from:
- A ground-floor opportunity within a newly established Australian facade business backed by a major international group
- Access to significant manufacturing capacity and established international engineering and design resources
- Genuine mentorship and career development, with the opportunity to progress toward a senior design leadership position
- Exposure across the complete project lifecycle, including tendering, design, procurement, fabrication and delivery
- A broad and varied position rather than a narrowly defined desk-based design role
- Potential opportunities for international travel, including visits to offshore design and manufacturing facilities
- The opportunity to influence design processes and help shape the technical function of a growing Australian business
