Our client operates in the Pharmaceuticals industry and has success in customer loyalty and a high level of market penetration. They are now looking for a National Sales Manager to join the team.

Essential function(s) includes, but is not limited to:

  • To contribute to the company’s domestic brand sales objectives.
  • To provide leadership to the sales team and build long-term customer and distributor relationships.
  • To be creative and thorough in sales processes delivering innovative ideas for business growth.

Primary activates include, but are not limited to:

Sales Strategy:

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies and lead nationwide sales toward achievement of sales objectives.
  • Develop competencies and processes required to create an effective and efficient sales organization.
  • Provide sales management, budget control, inventory forecasting, sales targets and incentive planning.
  • Lead nationwide sales team members and distributors to achieve sales targets
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships and management performances with customers and distributors.
  • Establish productive and professional relationships with key personnel internally and externally.
  • Monitor and analyse sales performance metrics and suggest improvements.
  • Identification of new potential channels, customers, business model and new market opportunities.
  • Provide direct reports support, development direction and measurement of results to include performance appraisals and salary reviews.
  • Attend tradeshows, seminars, and conferences as appropriate.
  • Availability to travel as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Brand Strategy:

  • Liaise with Marketing and Product Development departments to ensure brand consistency.
  • Work in tandem with marketing and sales team for new product launches and promotions.
  • Establish effective relationships and collaborations with other departments (Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, Production, Warehouse, etc.) to address key business issues and opportunities.
  • Provide key input and support (budget and personnel) to Marketing for Sponsorship and event attendance.

Team Management:

  • Mentor and coach all direct reports while comparing results to goals and taking appropriate corrective action when necessary.
  • Work with direct reports on their growth and development strategies
  • Manage and collate performance appraisals and salary reviews.

Organisation and Efficiency

  • Co-ordinate daily activities to meet specified lead times.

Communication

  • Provide information to requests with the assurance that the data is valid.
  • Provide support to manufacturing and administration when requested.
  • Work as a team member, co-ordinate activities to enhance the performance of the group or project.

Staff Training

  • Provision of training/assistance to staff members in accordance with company and relevant quality standards requirements.
  • Attendance at agreed training courses (identified through Performance Appraisal or other appropriate methods).
  • Identification of own training needs.

Documentation

  • Maintain all documentation in accordance with Company and relevant quality standards.
  • Produce/assist with S.O.P development and S.O.P updates.

Maintenance and Housekeeping

  • Ensure equipment is in a clean and safe working order at all times. 
  • Ensure good housekeeping in the work area in accordance with company and relevant quality standards.

Safety, Health & Environment

  • Required to take reasonable care of your own health and safety and the health and safety of anyone else who may be affected by your acts or omissions in the workplace.
  • Co-operate with management with respect to action taken to comply with SHE requirements.
  • Contribute to the OH&S system by active identification of hazards and environmental risks.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE

Technical Expertise:

  1. Proven work experience as a National Sales Mnager. Experience in nutritional products is highly desirable
  2. Experience managing a high-performance sales team
  3. Demonstrated ability to achieve sales plans
  4. An ability to understand and analyse sales performance metrics
  5. Strong customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
  6. Strong communication and team management skills
  7. Analytical skills with a problem-solving attitude
  8. BSc degree in Sales, Business Administration or relevant field
  9. Excellent time-management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise deadlines and work under pressure
  10. Strong attention to detail
  11. Be process driven, adequately maintaining and monitoring the progress of product development projects, to provide accurate and up-to-date information to team members at any given time
  12. Be commercially savvy, ensuring all product development activities are commercially viable and comply with budgetary requirements
